Control Room Operator- Kent FRS

Salary:£20’099 per annum pro rata, inclusive of shift allowance

The Service is looking for a control room operator who will receive emergency calls from the public, promptly mobilise appropriate resources to resolve any situations and arrange for the provision of ongoing support at operational incidents to minimise loss of life and damage to property.

Main Duties are:

  • Monitor the readiness of resources.
  • Establish the location and nature of emergency calls.
  • Mobilise and support emergency fire and rescue service resources.
  • Contribute to the provision of specialised information to support emergency operations.
  • Liaise with key agencies.
  • Give fire survival advice to callers in danger.
  • Contribute to the evacuation and reinstatement of an emergency fire service control in the event of an emergency.
  • Contribute to the health and safety of self and others at work.
  • Contribute effectively to administrative processes in the fire service control room.
  • Contribute to caring for the environment.
  • Comply with the Service’s Fairness at Work policies and contribute to maintaining a fair, positive and productive working environment.
  • Undertake other duties as prescribed by the Chief Fire Officer or his/her nominated representative.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Able to communicate to a variety of audiences, through understanding and appreciation of the audiences needs.
  • Able to collate and interpret information to evaluate different solutions in order to make effective decisions.
  • Able to contribute effectively to a team.
  • Competent in relevant IT systems including Microsoft Office Applications (WORD, EXCEL and POWERPOINT), Share Point, Workforce Planning Systems, PDR Pro, Incident Reporting System (IRS) and UAccess.
  • Able to actively seek to understand and implement new and improved ways of working.
  • Level 2 in Numeracy and Literacy or equivalent.
  • Experience of working within an administrative environment.
  • Experience of working within a customer focus role.
