The postholder reports to the Senior Supplies technician or in their absence to the Purchasing & Supplies Officer, and, provides the Supplies department day to day provision, maintaining robust systems to enable the effective delivery of all operational equipment, PPE, clothing and consumables.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Respond to enquiries requesting goods and supplies from uniformed and non-uniformed personnel, referring to Snr Supplies Technician for advice on policy issues.
- Record all stock movements via SAGE, tracking equipment assets via Firewatch and other databases.
- Assist Senior Supplies Technician in maintaining adequate and safe storage of stock within the supplies department warehouse to meet current HSE Warehouse Regulations.
- Complete periodic and annual stock takes as directed by Snr Supplies Technician
- Deliver equipment, PPE and clothing to new employees through liaison with Service Delivery, Human Resources, Training Centre, as directed by Snr Supplies Technician.
- Deliver a bespoke engraving and signage service as directed by Snr Supplies Technician
- Ensure the delivery of the Supplies department courier service is undertaken on a daily basis.
- Assist Supplies & Logistics Assistant in logistical planning of equipment movement within the County of Berkshire, and on some occasions, to suppliers and contractors outside the County.
- Provide, when required, practical and theoretical assistance to Operational and Engineering technicians with planned testing and repair, within authorised safety and competency parameters to meet current legislation.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Able to function under pressure whilst dealing with conflicting demands from customers
- Able to work unsupervised and able to set own deadlines
- Good interpersonal skills, able to communicate with personnel at all levels both verbally and via email.
- Able to enter data into a database or spreadsheet, use email, produce simple Word documents
- Practical, hands on skills
- Manual tasks will be required when carrying out maintenance of equipment and stock control. Including manual handling of large items
- Storekeeping/warehouse and stock control recording knowledge
- Experience of working in a warehouse or logistical distribution.
- Able to meet the Brigades medical standards with the ability to repeatedly lift and carry weights up to 15kg.
- Flexible and adaptable approach to work, as occasionally entails being available outside normal working hours
- Must hold a current valid driving licence
