Fireworks are great sky decorations that are fun to gaze at on special events. But you do have to remember that without proper handling, it can be dangerous especially on children. If you want to celebrate the good way, taking precautionary measures when using fireworks is a great idea. That way, your party wouldn’t end up by bringing somebody injured into the hospital.
The first thing you have to bear in mind when deciding to use fireworks on special events is to be sure what you’re buying is safe and accredited by British Standards. Don’t rely on saving up a few quid and buying random fireworks on corner stores with no reputable store labels or business permits. If you want to ensure that your fireworks are safe and approved by the British government, the label must have a BS 7114 written on the box.
When choosing what fireworks to buy, you must plan ahead and think of what kind of fireworks will work in your lawn or the place where you’re throwing an event. Make sure that guests will have fun and not have to worry about their safety. Your lawn or any open space must have a fair distance from houses, light posts, trees and vehicles. Also, you might want to set up your firework start-up station where there will be no disturbance from guests especially running children and/or pets.
Aside from evaluating your space, you must choose your fireworks wisely. There are some fireworks that cannot be bought by amateurs. There are different categories of fireworks. If you aren’t a professional pyro events handler the only set you can buy are fireworks that come under Categories 1 to 3. These are fireworks that include those that you can use indoors, in your garden or at a display. Always read the label and instructions and ask the shop whether the firework they’re selling is appropriate for your desired use.
Now that you have bought yourself a couple of fireworks and waiting for the big even to finally spark them up, you must consider a safe storage place where it’s dry at room temperature and out of reach from children. Preferably store your fireworks on the high shelves of your garage in safely sealed boxes where there aren’t any other flammable materials near them such as blow torches, lighters etc.
When attending events with a spectacular fireworks display such as outdoor concerts, New Year ’s Eve parties or parades and carnivals, be sure to be extra careful and observant. Don’t blend in on too much crowd and be sure that the space is open enough without too much obstacles for a safe and perfect view of the display.
For small gatherings or family New Year celebration, there must be someone in charge of the fireworks. Just in case, you will need a torch, a bucket or two of water, eye protection and gloves, a bucket of soft earth to put fireworks in and suitable supports and launchers for fireworks such as rockets etc. And when you’re organising a fireworks display, be sure to follow the British Standards and consult local authorities with safety guidelines. Fireworks displays are great ways to celebrate and have fun with the others. Just keep it as safe as possible so that it’s twice the fun.
